WITCHCRAFT: HOW MY PATH BEGAN
You'll find on this site I do things slightly different to other witches and Wiccans so let me explain to you how my path on witchcraft began.
I was visiting my mother-in-law and during my stay I was drawn to a little brown book. I couldn't make out the name as it was really quite hidden against the size of the other books.
I felt compelled to find out the title. My mother-in-law not only gave me permission to take it off the shelf, she also said if I found it interesting I could take it home.
I remember I was buzzing with energy. I felt like a child about to open a gift as I pulled the book off the shelf. Whilst looking for a title, all I saw was the word witchcraft and my body instantly filled with energy. I knew I had to open the book or put it down. It felt like there was a small volt of electricity passing through my body as I opened the pages. Somehow I felt calm and reassured. Once open I couldn't put the little brown book down. I was engrossed in the words I was reading but, more than that, I had an instant understanding of what I was reading and, as I turned each page, I somehow knew what I was about to read.
I was hungry for more information so on the way home, my husband sat in the car as I called in to a bookshop, reappearing shortly after with eight or nine books all on witchcraft.
His face was a picture and his words etched in my memory for life, "Good God girl! How many books have you just bought and much have you spent?" But he could see a switch had been turned on within me despite being dyslexic as just the thought of reading a book fills me with dread. He has supported me from that day to this.
Anyway, what I found was the information within the books all differed slightly, but most of all they all did it their way. So I set out to do it my way and, with spiritual guidance, I found it all came to me so easily. It was all so basic and so real. I didn't go in to the history of the craft as I was guided by spirit to focus on the here and now, the craft today and doing it my own way.
WITCH OR WICCAN, WTICHCRAFT OR WICCA?
I am not going to make any big drama about this as I am both witch and Wiccan and use both witchcraft and Wicca as they are both the same.
It's just over the years the words witch and witchcraft have conjured up negative thoughts in peoples' minds, so some witches chose to change the name of their belief system to try and change the negative stigma attached to it.
